Airtel to stop Airtel Online (NOP) Unlimited GPRS plan from May 5th

It’s time to say buh-bye to Airtel’s once loved Airtel Online or Net Over Phone (NOP) unlimited GPRS data plan. Airtel has announced that they will be switching over from the unlimited GPRS plan to the pay as you use Airtel Live! and Mobile Office plans.

From May 5th, Airtel will switch existing NOP customers over to a 30paise/50KB plan, in what can only be described as ‘INSANE’.

New subscribers can send an SMS “VBC ACTV” to the toll free number 222. (Some report activating the service by dialing *567# or by sending an SMS “AGPRS” to 56789.)

As an Airtel Online subscriber ever since I switched to Airtel, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed at Airtel.

First, it was the ‘no more daily 100 free sms’ notice. Then the Re.1 daily rental for the College Plan (although they reacivated the free sms plan). And now cancelling the unlimited GPRS plan. Yes Airtel, you definitely know how to dig your own grave.

I got up in da mrng to c my online deactivated…Very much disappointed nw….Nw is der any plan which wil cost cheper…? What about mobile office…??

Indeed. And Mobile Office is priced at Rs.20 per day, or Rs.99 per week. There’s no good plan to replace the awesome Airtel Online. :-(

The Airtel Customer care told me to send “ACTV” to 222, and the charges are 15paise for every 10KB. Which basically means loading a single page on your mobile browser would cost 15paise. Very costly.

You need to send ACTV to 222. The best action would be for you to call 121, press 2 (English), press 4, press 9, and speak to a customer care representative.

Airtel is really sucking man…it’ll be very very costly if we use tat VBC service…..it’ll suck your currency like hell……damn, man….i really miss airtel online now….it was damn good……

Not yet buddy. I’ve been paying for GPRS too. =(

Sad situation. I can’t change from Airtel to Vodafone ’cause I have way too good call and sms packages. I hope Airtel *atleast* comes out with something on the lines of Vodafone (50 bucks for 10 MB of usage).

HEY WHO SAID THAT AIRTEL STOPPED NOP. ITS NOT TRUE. I CAN STILL USE IT IN KERALA. I ACTIVATED IT FOR Rs 98 AND STILL WORKING FOR ME.

from 1 week not a single paisa has been cut from my balance for using VBC mobile office.For now,im able to browse internet for free.Is the same thing happening to each one of you?

hey guys, i found only one solution to browse unlimited net even without AO, but with Airtel Live…u only need Ucweb browser where net works even with 5 paise of balance n Airtel Live.

Its very shocking that Airtel has withdrawn AO from their services n many users like me are suffering with netless phones. I always remained remain updated with latest happenings n news all over the world till May 5. After that all over.

But again I found a way with Ucweb which I can at least browse to any site I wish with even zero balance, but if u have enough balance it charges as usual. For past 3 days I have been browsing net with Airtel Live in my 2 yrs old Nokia 6681.

I have one cheap Nokia 1209 to receive n make calls, but 6681 is just for net purposes…n now problems r fixed for me. Try out if it works same to u also…if any help needed just mail me at cybersupam@rediffmail.com……bye

@Cybersupam: Thanks for the tip. After the Fusion Lounge fiasco, I deleted Airtel Live! and Airtel Online access points from my mobile. So will have to try it out on a friend’s mobile. If it works, I’ll let you all know. :-)

go to http://www.symbianking.com and u will know how to browse airtel live for free but u cant download.if u try to download balance will be deducted.

Right now the best GPRS plan would be the 89 bucks plan. EZ recharge anywhere for Rs.89 and you get 90Mb for the month and an additional 75Mb every night between midnight and 8am.
